About The Door of Hope

We are dedicated to restoring dignity, stability, and long-term healing for women, children, and families facing various challenges. The Door of Hope is a grassroots nonprofit organization founded in 2022 with a mission to restore dignity, hope, and long-term healing to the most vulnerable individuals and families in Brown County, Ohio. We serve women, children, and families affected by food insecurity, homelessness, poverty, trauma, addiction, and mental illness through a trauma-informed continuum of care rooted in stability, empowerment, and community.

In 2024 we partnered with Aberdeen Maincross Church and revived a food pantry in an impoverished food desert region of the county in Aberdeen, Ohio. We have successfully kept the pantry shelves full and began distributing the overflow of food and supplies to partner volunteer outreaches across the county.

Our flagship initiative is the development of the county’s first women and children’s shelter, paired with wraparound supports designed to help families rebuild their lives to be located at Dragonfly Village, a unique 99-acre mixed-use healing community. With on-site access to mental health services, addiction recovery partners, case management, workforce development partners, and agricultural/nature-based wellness programming, our model bridges the gaps between housing, health care, and opportunity—especially in rural, underserved regions.
